Our Work

MADE has helped transform the lives of young people by creating a space where they feel safe, supported, and able to grow. Through its creative programmes and consistent encouragement, young people build confidence, learn to express themselves, and discover that their ideas and voices matter.

Our Projects

Read below for selected projects – to keep up to date and find out more about each project, keep an eye on our blog.

Creative Leadership Programme

Our Creative Leadership Programme works with up to 10 schools each academic year that put forward a member of staff and two students from Year 9 or 10. Students meet once every month over seven months at different cultural venues in Manchester, exploring different areas of leadership.

As part of the programme, each pair of students decide how their school’s micro-grant will be spent – thinking about the different areas of leadership they’ve learnt about and what area of creative activity they want to explore further. The teachers on the programme are also offered CPD, with ongoing cultural education activities shared by MADE to support wider learning.

Manchester's Creative Cultural Directory

During consultation with teachers, we discovered that one of their biggest obstacles to engagement with the city’s art offer is time and capacity. For young people, it is hard to know what’s out there, and to find the free opportunities that are available to them. In response, we created the Creative Cultural Directory that shares information from our partners about what is happening where. This directory is updated each year.

Our Impact

MADE nurtures leadership, self-belief, and a sense of purpose, showing young people that creativity can be a powerful way to tell the truth, explore important issues, and inspire change. What makes MADE so impactful is not only the opportunities it provides, but the care, respect, and belief it shows to every young person who walks through its doors.

MADE believed in me until I could believe in myself, and it gave me a future I couldn't see yet.
