During consultation with teachers, we discovered that one of their biggest obstacles to engagement with the city’s arts offer is time and capacity. For young people, it is hard to know what’s out there, and to find the free opportunities that are available to them. Arts organisations sometimes struggle to connect with schools and young people that they want to serve.

In response, we’ve created the Creative Cultural Directory! By consulting with our partners around the city, we’ve discovered a range of opportunities you can take part in to learn a new skill, make youth voice heard, or take your class somewhere new. We want to share with you a range of fantastic free and discounted offers for teachers, young people and schools, in art & design, performance or creative careers, no matter what interests you.

Some of the organisations involved are The Royal Exchange, Z-arts, Manchester Museum, The Whitworth, Contact Theatre, 42nd Street, Unity Theatre, Factory International and Young Identity. Explore opportunities by discipline or age, from KS1-KS4, to up to 25 years old.

Just a taster of what we have on offer are:

  • Studio Nights: Free CPD sessions for teachers to explore their creative practice at The Whitworth.
  • Adventures In Wonderland: Discounted rates for your school to visit the immersive exhibit.
  • Careers in Theatre: Work experience and schools partnership programmes with the Royal Exchange.
  • 42nd Street Youth Groups: Exploring mental health through creative community groups.
