Read below from Lulu Reeve, who facilitated the session:
The workshop between myself, Whitworth, MADE and the young people from MCR Academy aimed to facilitate conversation around young people’s engagement with gallery spaces, how this could positively impact their wellbeing, and how we might get more young people involved with art spaces.

As a group we explored a few pieces within the gallery that each student resonated with. We discussed themes of nature and calm being important, vibrant colour and pattern being eye-catching and positive, as well as seeing textiles from one of the students' home countries being a highlight! Representation for young people really matters.

Within the art session I introduced the students to mono-printing, which created a relaxed environment for the students to discuss and explore their thoughts on the gallery space and how the Whitworth might encourage more young people to visit the space.
